Oberstown Annual Report 2020

The Oberstown Annual Report 2020 report gives an update on ongoing progress in Oberstown to provide the best possible care for young people through the CEHOP framework. Highlights include:
- The adoption of the new Children’s Rights Policy Framework, establishing a new rights-based approach to policy and procedure for all aspects of the Oberstown Campus.
- Successful stewardship of the organisation through a period of substantial change and challenge in light of COVID-19.
- The 2020 HIQA inspection resulted in no findings of non-compliance in any of the areas examined, with the Campus found to be ‘compliant’ or ‘substantially compliant’ across all three standards assessed.
- The establishment of a Board Young People Committee which, combined with the work of the Advocacy Officer, enabled the Board to hear directly from young people on a regular basis.
- Achievement by young people at Oberstown of 22 Gaisce awards in 2020 – 1 gold (a first for the Campus), 3 silver and 18 bronze – rewarding months and in some cases years of work.
- Oberstown’s commitment to employee health and wellbeing earned IBEC KeepWell Mark accreditation. Oberstown won the IBEC Wellbeing Initiative of the Year 2020.
- Oberstown ran five separate personal development and life skills programmes for young people in 2020 and offered an extensive range of recreational and educational programmes, including vocational training such as a motor mechanics workshop, fitness instructor training and barista training.
