Essential
Candidates must demonstrate in their application proven knowledge and understanding of the rights and interests of children including showing a commitment to the full implementation of the rights and interests of children in conflict with the law.
Candidates must also demonstrate evidence of experience at an appropriately senior level in one or more of the following areas:
• Governance and risk management expertise (preferably in the public sector);
• Children’s rights, particularly youth justice and detention;
• Legal expertise, including experience in child law and/or youth justice;
• Working with and for children, in areas such as education, child protection, mental health, substance misuse, community or youth work;
• Working with children from minority ethnic backgrounds, including children from the Traveller community.
Desirable
• Previous experience in board membership and demonstrated interest in good governance;
• Previous experience in identifying, developing and overseeing the implementation of key strategic objectives;
• Experience in understanding issues from a young person’s perspective.
All appointments will be subject to obtaining satisfactory Garda Vetting.
