Oberstown Children Detention Campus is an agency under the aegis of the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth. Oberstown operates in accordance with the principles of good governance in line with relevant legislation, the Children Act 2001 and the Code of Practice for the Governance of State Bodies (2016).

Oberstown operates under the Public Procurement Guidelines, which provide the direction for all procurement policy activity, ensuring that the campus complies with and observes the objectives and key principles of competition, equality of treatment and transparency that underpin national and EU rules.

Access to Information on the Environment (AIE)

European Communities (Access to Information on the Environment) Regulations 2007 to 2011 give legal rights to those seeking to access information on the environment from public authorities.

  • Under these regulations, information relating to the environment held by, or for, a public authority must be made available on request, subject to certain exceptions.

  • The AIE regulations also oblige public authorities to be proactive in disseminating environmental information to the public.
