Writing in the Irish Examiner of May 16, Minister for Children Katherine Zappone outlined the reforming changes that have taken place in youth justice over the past number of months and years. The Minister, who mentioned that she will be attending the Oberstown event later this month, referenced the good work going on in Oberstown to turn young lives around. She acknowledged the challenges the campus has faced, but also recognised the dedication of staff, and the great will to make Oberstown the most effective place it can be for its young residents. Outlining a range of community measures in place to help young people avoid detention, Minister Zappone also made it clear that Oberstown is far from the only solution for young people in conflict with the law.
